I wanted to pass along some info for a new group called, "Bambino Brigade."   The group is a Nashville based activity community committed to baby-wearing and outdoor activities. The moms in the group hike at least once a week with their babies and young children in tow.  They've had moms carrying babies from two months up to 18+ months (on their back).

Each week they post a schedule for trail options on their site, http://bambinobrigade.blogspot.com/ . Those options are broken down into “Easy,” “Moderate,” and “Difficult.” “Easy” trails are for beginners and allow any member to take their time. “Moderate” trails are more intense, have a faster pace and are more of a challenge. “Difficult” trails are intense, full-speed hikes with little to no stopping (unless little ones need to eat, obviously).

I didn't start the group but have been fortunate enough to have joined these women from the beginning.  Being able to get out, get some exercise, and share time with other moms, on a weekly basis, has been very rewarding.  If you are interested in joining us and would like more info, check out their site, http://bambinobrigade.blogspot.com/ .

Happy Hiking!

Thank you for posting this!  Do you mostly join them with just the baby?

Very cool!  I'd like to give it a go sometime.  Preferably without my toddler for everyone's sanity.  ("Carry me mommeeeeee!")

I've been hiking with them on the days when my older son is in school.  So far, the hikes have been too long, too rigorous, or both, for children that can't be worn.  They hope to offer more hikes of varying degrees of difficulty and length, as well as events that could include older kids, as the group grows.  If you would like to try to plan something for a day when your kids are in school, let me know.   Otherwise, I've been on one trail, outside of the group, that my 4.5 yo son managed with no difficulty.

I will probably try to hit a day when DD is in school.  She's a bit of a whiner.  I'll go ahead and admit that before anyone is tortured by it.  :)

Look forward to it!
